Need a 5th wedding anniversary gift under $800?

I am celebrating my 5th wedding anniversary on the 24th and my husband already upgraded my wedding ring to 1 carat ($1600). He says he doesn’t want a new wedding band but his band looks so aweful next to my new ring. We were on a small budget 5 years ago. I have $800 I want to give him a new diamond band engraved any ideas where to go for that budget? Or anything else. he would be so angry if i spent more than that on a ring for him. I know its not much but I am hoping he will be ok with an upgrade like that.

An $800 upgrade should be fine by anyone’s standards. Our five year anniversary is the 18th and I don’t think we will get each other anything because we just had our first child.
You could get a week stay at a casino in vegas with round trip plain tix for that much. Just go through expedia.com and get a package deal.
You don’t need to spend that much and you can get a really nice ring. Go to Wal-Mart or Target they both have some beautiful rings for about 1/3 of that and then you can use the rest of it to take a romantic weekend somewhere together.
OK, traditional is wood; modern is silver. So for the traditional, a nice piece of furniture would be possible on that budget. Look around your home and see what masculine piece is needed.
As to silver, there are many good choices. Since you have the budget for it, I would suggest you go talk to a coin dealer, and ask what a starter collection would be like. Since they’ve stopped circulating silver, an excellent collection can be made out of what would otherwise be ordinary coins. Get a silver dollar or half dollar (whatever is available) from his birth year and yours, or even a proof set. If you are so young that even on your birth year they were not producing silver in the US, there were other countries that were, notably Canada, which did a lovely set of commemorative silver dollars every year for a long time. They may even be doing them still. Then also look at older coins; like really old. And be sure to leave enough in the budget for a good identification guide. I remember a nice one that taught how to grade US coins with close-up photos for the grades.
It’s a wonderful hobby that is really a long-term investment, and something the two of you could enjoy together, and share with your children when they are old enough.
