You are caught between a rock and a hard place.
The ring is not going to be worth as much with the stone missing, (is it a small one), but it might not be worth spending $100 to fix it.
A rough guide would be about a quarter of its retail /insurance value, less the repair cost.
Without details of diamonds, and ring weight it would be hard to put a value on this item.
